MISSY ARMSTRONG for FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR and DETOUR for EMERGING ARTIST OF THE YEAR consideration…

A year ago DETOUR was not that well known in the bluegrass world. With the release of their current album A BETTER PLACE on June 1, 2012 all of that changed. Airplay, charting, recording contract offers, signing with Roe Entertainment for representation and Hope River Entertainment for album support have all added up to a whirlwind year. “We never imagined that an unknown band on an independent label with a self-produced album would have gotten the kind of attention we have.” said Jeff Rose Detour band leader and songwriter. It is very humbling indeed.”
“Every once in a while that perfect combination of people come together to form a musical union unequaled anywhere. Stephane Grappelli and Django Rheinhardt, Les Paul and Mary Ford, the Beatles and now Missy Armstrong and Detour. When Missy joined the already formed band, it was like closing the switch and making the connection on an electrical circuit. She made the band’s sound complete. Missy’s delivers her vocals with true emotion that only comes from a natural gift.” – Brian McNeal, Prescription Bluegrass
“Last August, walking from the parking lot toward the stage at the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, I heard a voice that stopped me in my tracks. It belonged to Missy Armstrong (Detour), who I think is destined to start showing up among the nominees for IBMA female vocalist of the year. I picked up the CD that day in the merchandise tent and it’s been in regular rotation ever since. Jeff Rose is a talented songwriter, the band is tight and the project is top-shelf.” – David Morris, Bluegrass Today
“What Detour is doing requires a specific kind of musical virtuosity, and it has it in spades.”
